Kuyt blow for Liverpool

Dirk Kuyt has picked up a painful shoulder injury whilst on international duty for Holland.

The Liverpool forward fell awkwardly during training ahead of Holland’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Finland on Tuesday night.

Dutch boss Bert van Marwijk confirmed Kuyt will miss Tuesday’s game and “strained and possibly torn ligaments in his shoulder”.

The news will come to a major blow to Liverpool, who could now be without him for around two weeks, with games against Birmingham City, Steaua Bucharest and Manchester Utd on the horizon.

van Marwijk believes Kuyt could be out of action until October, with the 30-year-old flying back to see club medical staff on Merseyside this afternoon.
