Line-Up vs Brighton – Coates & Bellamy start

New signings Sebastien Coates and Craig Bellamy both start for Liverpool in their third round Carling Cup tie against Brighton this evening.

Centre-back Coates had a baptism of fire as he made his debut as substitute in the horror showing at White Hart Lane, while Bellamy has made several sub appearances since re-signing for the Reds from Man City on deadline day.

Club captain Steven Gerrard starts the match on the bench after six months out through injury.

Pepe Reina starts in goal with Kenny Dalglish not opting to play the Reds’ back-up keeper Alexander Doni, which has been typical under previous managers in this competition.

Martin Kelly makes a welcome return at right back, while young Jack Robinson comes in at left back.

Luis Suarez starts up front, likely alongside Dirk Kuyt, with Bellamy and Maxi Rodriguez on the wings and Jay Spearing coming in for the suspended Charlie Adam alongside Lucas Leiva.

Liverpool: Reina, Kelly, Coates, Carragher, Robinson, Maxi, Lucas, Spearing, Bellamy, Kuyt, Suarez
Subs: Doni, Gerrard, Carroll, Downing, Wilson, Shelvey, Flanagan.

Kick off is 7:45pm.
