Happy Birthday, This Is Anfield!

On 26th December 2001, this website was born out of the merger of two Liverpool FC fan sites, LFC Kop and Anfield FC – set up by two Reds fans, Matt Ladson and Max Munton.

Since then, the site has gone from strength to strength. We’ve seen four different managers in the Anfield hot seat (five if you include Phil Thompson), Igor Biscan, a fifth European Cup won in dramatic circumstances in Istanbul, another FA Cup won in Cardiff, victories over Barcelona, Man Utd, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Havant & Waterlooville, Dirk Kuyt score in a European Cup Final, Rafa incredibly ousted for Roy Hodgson by a bloke called Christian Purslow, two hopeless cowboys buy then lose the club, no spade in the ground (still), a dramatic week in the High Court over the club’s ownership future, King Kenny Dalglish return home, £35million spent on Andy Carroll and Justice for the 96 taking significant steps forward.

It’s been quite a ten years.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the millions of you who have visited the website over the last ten years and everyone who has ever contributed to the site – whether it be writing, forum moderation, graphic design, playing for TIA FC, or helped us with the technical side of things. Thank you.

As for the future, well we’ll keep going. We’re currently working on a new look for the site, which will be completed soon and we have some fantastic new features lined up for 2012, as well as keeping you up to date with the latest LFC news and opinion, like we’ve done from day one.

Come with us as we take a walk down memory lane and look back at how This Is Anfield has evolved over the last ten years below. And here’s to another successful ten years with more silverwear to come.

You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Max Munton and Matt Ladson
