Liverpool were linked with Argentine attacker Javier Pastore over the weekend and the rumours continue to gather pace.
The 24 year old attacking midfielder is currently at French side Paris St. Germain. He was linked with a move away in the summer but preferred to fight for his place at the Ligue 1 side under new boss Laurent Blanc.
Opportunities have been limited though so far this season – Pastore has started five of PSG’s 10 games (all competitions) and been subbed early in 3 of those 5.
The Metro claimed over the weekend “Liverpool are ready to launch a January bid for PSG play-maker Javier Pastore after the player’s agent admitted his client has grown unhappy with life in France.” They quote his agent saying:
“He has been happy there, but now is not the time for nostalgia. We will see what happens in the next few months.”
Pastore would be the “marquee” signing the Reds missed out on in the summer when bids for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Diego Costa and Willian ended in failure. Their most expensive signing was PSG defender Mamadou Sakho for around £16m.
The arrival of Pastore would give Brendan Rodgers a wealth of attacking options, alongside Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Victor Moses.
ForzaItalianFootball claim AC Milan are also interested in the Argentinian.
