Several media outlets reported late on Monday night that Sterling is to meet with Brendan Rodgers and Ian Ayre on Friday to confirm his desire to leave Anfield.
It is the latest chapter of a publicly played out saga after months of failed contract negotiations. With Liverpool’s lack of Champions League football next season, for many, the writing was on the wall.
