Ahead of Sunday’s opening Premier League match at Stoke City, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has tipped £32.5 million signing Christian Benteke to surprise people this season.

Benteke, the club’s new No. 9, is expected to make his competitive debut at the Britannia Stadium, and Rodgers was in his typically confident mood.
“He’s the type of player that fits perfectly for us,” claimed the boss.
“For me, he’s got massive potential. There’s still a lot of room for improvement for him, but for me he can play in any type of game. You see his qualities.
“Tactically, maybe he played in a different type of team where it was a little more direct. What will surprise a lot of people is the quality of his football.
“His movement’s really clever, he can penetrate the space in behind, he can link the game up. We’ve seen already, close up, the types of goals and movement he has.”
