Liverpool vs. Sunderland — Reds favourites, Anfield goal fest?

25 November 2016

Liverpool are back in Premier League action this weekend – we’re here to provide you with the best odds for the visit of Sunderland.

It wasn’t the perfect return to domestic football for the Reds last weekend, although the 0-0 draw at Southampton was far from a bad result.

Avoiding defeat stretched Liverpool’s unbeaten run to 13 matches, in all competitions, and they are second in the Premier League, behind current leaders Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side welcome David Moyes’ Sunderland to Anfield on Saturday afternoon, with the home supporters hoping for another emphatic win from their team.

There are the usual variety of odds of offer ahead of the game – here are some that stand out, thanks to our friends at AppBet.

Liverpool haven’t been stronger favourites to win a league game in a long time, which says all you need to know about their current brilliance.

The Reds are 2/13 to leave Anfield with another three points in the bag, which in all honesty, does not represent good value for money.

Sunderland are a huge 16/1 to pick up what would be an unlikely win – a victory that would make it three wins on the bounce for Moyes’ men in the top flight.

The draw is 13/2, which would only suit one team.

Roberto Firmino is again expected to lead the line for Liverpool, and he is 3/1 to open the scoring. Liverpool’s expected dominance is again outlined by the fact that the Brazilian is odds-on (13/20) to score anytime.

The same applies to Sadio Mane (3/4) and Philippe Coutinho (10/11), with the Reds’ attacking duo 10/3 and 4/1 to score first, respectively.

Daniel Sturridge is still desperate for his first league goal of the season, and the 27-year-old is 14/5 to score two or more on the day. He is likely to start on the bench, however.

Jermain Defoe will be Sunderland‘s biggest goal threat, and the Englishman is 9/1 to score first and silence Anfield. In-form Victor Anichebe is 12/1.

Matches at Anfield have been full of goals in 2016/17, barring the stalemate with Man United, and this should be no exception.

Backing both teams to score (19/20) is far from a bad bet, although a lot will depend on whether Sunderland can cause the Reds set-piece issues.

If you’re not too sure about that, how about having a punt on how many goals there will be?

Over 2.5 is 1/3, which should come in, but over 3.5 (10/11) and 4.5 (2/1) offer better value, and stand a good chance of happening as well.
