Firmino or Coutinho to open the scoring? – Watford vs. Liverpool Betting Preview

1 May 2017

As Liverpool prepare to take on Watford on Monday night, we’re on hand with our pre-match betting preview to get you in the mood.

The showdown between the Reds and the Hornets finishes off the Premier League weekend, with Jurgen Klopp‘s men hoping to avenge last season’s woeful 3-0 defeat at Vicarage Road.

Three points are absolutely essential for Liverpool in order to remain favourites to finish fourth in the league, at worst.

A response is needed after the disappointing loss to Crystal Palace last Sunday – defeat does not bear thinking about at this point in the campaign.

As always, we’re here to provide you with our betting preview and there’s a free £50 bet for all visitors with Ladbrokes. Which odds catch your eye?

Seeing as 10th-placed Watford are meant to be “on the beach”, all things should point towards Liverpool prevailing against their mid-table opponents.

The Reds are 8/15 to pick up a much-needed victory, which looks decent enough value to have a punt on. Having said that, we said the same against Palace.

Watford are 9/2 to spring a shock and prove that their minds are not yet on their summer holidays.

The draw is 3/1, which would not be good enough for the Reds.

Roberto Firmino was quiet against Palace, having scored back-to-back winners against Stoke City and West Brom, and Liverpool need him back to his best on Monday.

The 25-year-old is 4/1 to open the scoring against the Hornets, netting his 13th goal of the season in the process.

Philippe Coutinho is somewhere close to his best again, if slightly short of it, with his stunning free-kick at home to Palace proof of that. The Brazilian is 9/2 to strike first.

Adam Lallana could well start after injury, and he is 23/10 to score anytime and outline his influence at Liverpool these days. That is definitely worth putting a bit of money on.

The Reds have lost the entertainment value that was on show earlier in the season, with many of their matches lacking in quality of late. When was the last time they genuinely clicked?

They don’t appear to have too much attacking thrust in them, with legs tiring and key players injured, so backing under 2.5 goals (5/4) is worth your while.

Under 1.5 (7/2) goals may even come in, with the recent 1-0 win at West Brom the perfect example of the dogged late-season Liverpool.

Our scorecast tip for the match is Firmino to score first and the Reds to win 2-0, at 25/1.
