Liverpool continued their winning ways at the Aviva Stadium after emerging as 5-0 victors over Napoli in their penultimate pre-season game on Saturday.
The Reds headed into the clash with the Italian outfit off the back of just one defeat from seven games throughout the summer, with Jurgen Klopp fielding his strongest starting XI to date with the league opener against West Ham looming large.
The occasion offered Alisson his chance to don the Liverbird for the first time since his switch from Roma.
And he got off to an immaculate start after triggering Liverpool’s early attack on goal which led to James Milner powerfully slotting home within the opening four minutes.
Gini Wijnaldum doubled the lead soon after when he headed Milner’s cross into the back of the net to give the Reds a comfortable buffer to see out the opening term.
It was a first half which also included a welcome return to action for Roberto Firmino…
The second term saw another three goals go unanswered, with Mohamed Salah, Daniel Sturridge and Aberto Moreno capping off yet another scintillating pre-season outing for the Reds.
Liverpool were at their menacing best throughout the 90-minute affair, leaving smiles etched on faces for those in the Aviva Stadium as well as sending ominous signs for the Reds’ opposition in the weeks to come…
Liverpool’s next port of call comes against Torino at Anfield on Tuesday evening in their last pre-season outing before the campaign opener.
