Jurgen Klopp has made three changes to his starting lineup as Liverpool take on relegation candidates Cardiff City in the Premier League this afternoon.
Four days after their 4-0 thrashing of Red Star Belgrade, the Reds are back at Anfield as they look to make it eight wins from 10 in the league.
With Man City travelling to Wembley to take on Tottenham on Monday night, this provides Klopp’s side with a great chance to put pressure on the leaders and, at least temporarily, move up to first.
Despite injuries to Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita, Klopp has been able to name a formidable side for today’s clash.
Alisson starts in goal again, as the Brazilian aims to add to his impressive tally of clean sheets and maintain his Golden Glove battle with compatriot Ederson.
In defence, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren, Virgil van Dijk and Alberto Moreno are tasked with aiding Alisson‘s cause, shielded by Fabinho in the No. 6.
Joining Fabinho in midfield are Gini Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana, with Xherdan Shaqiri dropping out.
And after their impressive goalscoring display in midweek, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are all retained up front.
Having praised the depth of his squad in the buildup to the game, Klopp also has a variety of excellent options on his substitutes’ bench.
Shaqiri, James Milner and Daniel Sturridge are among those available if the manager opts to changes things up during the game.
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Moreno; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Lallana; Salah, Mane, Firmino
Substitutes: Mignolet, Matip, Gomez, Robertson, Milner, Shaqiri, Sturridge
Cardiff City: Etheridge; Equele Manga, Morrison, Bamba, Bennett; Hoilett, Camarasa, Gunnarsson, Murphy; Reid; Paterson
Substitutes: Smithies, Connolly, Cunningham, Damour, Harris, Zohore, Madine
