Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez says fans need to be patient with new defender Andrea Dossena, who has enjoyed inconsistent form during the early days of his career at the club.
Doessena arrived at Anfield in the summer from Udinese and now looks set for a run of games in the Reds defence with Brazilian Fabio Aurelio sidelined for two weeks through injury.
Benitez says the Italian has a lot to show the fans. He said, “The main thing for me is that he is working very, very hard.
“He is working very hard but maybe he needs to be a little bit calmer and relaxed when he plays because he’s a little bit anxious now.
“So, he will need time – but the main thing for me is that he wants to improve, that’s clear.
“He needs to know the system here and he will improve. You never know how long it will take but hopefully he’ll be better in the next game.”
