Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt says there will be no bad feelings towards Premier League referee Howard Webb if the Reds miss out on the title this season.
Webb recently awarded title-rivals Manchester Utd a controversial penalty when they were 2-0 down at home to Tottenham, allowing Alex Ferguson’s men back into the game (they eventually won 5-2). Had Spurs gone on to win that game, Liverpool would be top of the table now.
But Kuyt says refereeing mistakes are all part of the game, as the Reds look to leapfrog Utd into first place this weekend with a trip to West Ham on Saturday evening.
‘œFootballers and referees make mistakes every game, this is part of the culture of football and you have to accept that,’ Kuyt told Setanta Sports.
‘œWe were on the coach back during that game so we didn’t see it live, but these things happen and we’ll just see how things end up at the end of the season.’
