Carra to follow in Stevie’s footsteps

Steven Gerrard this week signed a new deal to keep him at Liverpool for the rest of his career and see him take up an ambassadorial role after his playing days are up.

And Kenny Dalglish has revealed he hopes fellow one-club man Jamie Carragher can follow in his captain’s footsteps by agreeing a similar deal.

Dalglish said “We will have the same conversation that we had with Steven with Carra, to see what his plans and ambitions are.”

“It is hugely important for the football club to keep great servants in some way, shape or form. He and Steven are fantastic assets for us, on and off the field.”

Carragher, 33, has found himself – for the first time in six years – not first-choice in the Reds’ defence after the impressive form of Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel of late.
