Liverpool could be set to make a move to sign Arsenal forward Theo Walcott before the end of the transfer window, with a bid imminent.
The Mirror, Metro and Guardian all report the speculation today. Walcott was a Liverpool fan as a boy.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is still looking to strengthen his squad for the new season and has a number of targets on his short list.
Walcott today pulled out of training with England and will not feature in Wednesday night’s friendly against Italy in Switzerland with a bruised thigh.
There has been speculation surrounding a move for Walcott throughout the summer, with Real Madrid‘s Nuri Sahin, Barcelona‘s Christian Tello and Fulham‘s Clint Dempsey also on Rodgers’ wish list.
Walcott is out of contract with the Gunners next summer and could be available cut price, although the imminent departure of Robin van Persie from the Emirates may make Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reluctant to let 23-year-old Walcott go.
Liverpool are understood to have enquired about Walcott, but Arsenal are yet to decide whether to offer the England winger / forward a new deal or offload now for a fee.
