Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says getting recognised goalscorers in is the number one objective for the final hours of the transfer window.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of the Arsenal match on Sunday, the Reds boss said “There’s no doubt we need to add goals to the team. Getting people who are recognised goalscorers to come in is the number one objective.”
Liverpool have been linked with several attackers today, most notably Clint Dempsey and Theo Walcott.
Regarding Dempsey, Rodgers said “We have to wait and see”.
Regarding Walcott, Rodgers simply smiled and said “He’s a very good Arsenal player”.
Regarding Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Rodgers said “Definite no on that one”.
Regarding Daniel Sturridge, Rodgers said “Daniel is a very good player who I know well”.
Rodgers continued “We’re hopeful of adding to the squad. There are a number of players we’re looking at. It’s very difficult to get deals done at this stage. As a manager, the earlier you can get things done the better.”
“In the current climate it is difficult but I love being here and I’m used to working with limited resources.”
The transfer deadline closes at 11pm. Stay tuned throughout the day for everything on LFC.
