Liverpool to pip Man Utd to Serbian ace

Liverpool look set to beat Manchester Utd to the signature of Heerenveen midfielder Filip Djuricic, according to the Daily Mail.

United had looked to sign the Serbian international a couple of years ago, but were unable to complete the deal due to work permit problems.

He has been playing for Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie since, the club the Reds signed Oussama Assaidi from this summer.

The 20-year-old attacking playmaker could provide exciting ammunition for Liverpool’s thin front options as Brendan Rodgers looks to improve his squad in the January transfer window.

Rodgers is hoping the prospect of linking Djuricic up with his former teammate Assaidi is enough to entice him to swap Holland for Merseyside.
