Liverpool squad has a new fastest player – 4 new signings in top 10

Arne Slot has injected speed into his Liverpool squad this summer, with each of his new outfield signings among the club’s 10 fastest players.

Liverpool have made one statement after another off the back of their Premier League triumph, building a squad in Slot’s image.

In Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, Slot has added a combination of speed, versatility and athleticism – traits he spoke highly of in his debut season.

Notably, with the help of FotMob‘s impressive new data, the club’s new outfield players all sit within Liverpool’s top 10 fastest players:

Darwin Nunez held Liverpool’s record for the fastest speed in the Premier League last season (34.1 km/h), but in signing Frimpong, Ekitike and Wirtz, the Reds instantly have a new injection of pace.

You expect the dressing room will seek to arrange a race to ratify the data, if they haven’t already!

As for Liverpool’s top 10 in the Premier League across their title-winning season, the departing Nunez, Jarell Quansah (33.7 km/h), Trent Alexander-Arnold (33.5 km/h) and Luis Diaz (33.4 km/h) all featured:

For comparison, Erling Haaland recorded the fastest time in the Premier League last season by registering a high speed of 35.3 km/h, with four others hitting at least 35 km/h.

Liverpool now have two players who recorded faster times in Frimpong (36.34 km/h) and Ekitike (35.53 km/h) in 2024/25, which will put opposition defences on alert.
