Harvey Elliott‘s move to Aston Villa has been confirmed, with the 22-year-old joining on an initial loan before the deal becomes permanent next summer.
Elliott’s future has been resolved, with a transfer to Villa Park now confirmed after the two clubs reached an agreement over an initial loan with an obligation to buy next summer for £35 million.
That obligation to buy is dependent on appearances, while Liverpool have also negotiated buy-back and sell-on clauses into the deal.
The 22-year-old travelled on deadline day to undergo a medical and formalise the transfer, with the terms benefiting Villa as they seek to comply with UEFA’s financial restrictions.
- Liverpool agree initial loan for 2025/26 season
- Villa have obligation to buy next summer for £35m
- Elliott departs after 149 appearances for boyhood club
RB Leipzig was a potential destination for Elliott this summer after they made official contact with Liverpool.
But he will remain in the Premier League and seek opportunities under Unai Emery after playing only 826 minutes in Arne Slot‘s debut season.

It prompted Elliott to admit he did not want to be “wasting years” of his career sat on the bench, with serious injuries highlighting how it can be cut short.
“I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself and the best player I can be,” Elliott said back in June.
“And if that’s to go somewhere else then it’s a decision that I’m going to have to make, I just need to see what happens.”
Liverpool’s statement summer diminished Elliott’s chances of an increased role as the club sought to make the squad in Slot’s image, with the 22-year-old not fitting into his plans.
With Elliott’s transfer to become permanent next summer, it means he signs off with 149 appearances, 15 goals and five trophies for his boyhood club.
Liverpool signed Elliott in 2019 and a tribunal determined they would pay Fulham a package worth £4.3 million, which included a 20 percent sell-on clause.
All the best, Harvey!
