Milos Kerkez performance “much more like it” – as Dominik Szoboszlai stars

Dominik Szoboszlai was Liverpool’s standout player in the 1-0 win at home to Arsenal, but his compatriot Milos Kerkez wasn’t bad either!

The Reds pulled three points clear of the Gunners on Sunday afternoon, thanks to Szoboszlai’s outrageous late free-kick.

Here we compare our player ratings with those of TIA’s readers, the Liverpool Echo and GOAL.

After a Man of the Match outing in the 3-2 victory at Newcastle, Szoboszlai was again Liverpool’s star man at Anfield.

The Hungarian earned a 9.18 rating, with his performance excellent even before he scored the winning goal.

This Is Anfield‘s James Nalton handed Szoboszlai a perfect 10 out of 10, writing that it “feels like there’s nothing he can’t do.”

Ian Doyle of the Echo felt that he “looked to get forward whenever possible.”

Kerkez (7.85) was Liverpool second-best player, with the left-back battling doggedly up against Noni Madueke.

GOAL’s Mark Doyle thought it was “much more like it” from the Reds’ summer signing, following a few patchy showings.

What the stats say

According to our friends at FotMob, Szoboszlai (8.5) was also the best player on the pitch from a statistical point of view.

Liverpool’s No. 8 made a total of 14 defensive contributions, leading the way in both sides, with Declan Rice (13) the next-highest.

Szoboszlai also won both of his tackles – the same applied to Florian Wirtz, despite another relatively quiet performance.

Incredibly, Joe Gomez made more clearances than anyone (seven), despite only being introduced in the 79th minute!
