Jayden Danns scored and wore the captain’s armband while Rio Ngumoha came off the bench to supply a vital assist for England at youth level.
Arne Slot had 19 senior players called up for international action in addition to several youth players this month, with Ngumoha and Danns among them.
Ngumoha was initially called up to represent England’s U18s but was promoted to the U19s, making his debut on Wednesday before being utilised off the bench against Spain on Saturday.
Trey Nyoni started and played 69 minutes of the dramatic 3-3 draw, with Ngumoha introduced with the scoreline at 2-2 with 20 minutes to play, but a penalty put Spain in the lead again late on.

Only a few minutes later, though, Ngumoha showed off the qualities that have seen him stand out for Liverpool since pre-season, running straight at the defence and using his quick feet to create space.
A powerful pass across the box took a slight deflection off the goalkeeper and found Harrison Armstrong for an easy tap-in to make it 3-3 – his first assist at this level.
As for Danns, he wore the captain’s armband on his debut for the U20s, and scored an equaliser for his side against Italy on Friday almost immediately after the restart.
England could not add to his well-taken strike and went on to lose 2-1 in their only scheduled match this break, with Danns watching the final stages from the bench.
Unlike Ngumoha, who has a defined role in the first team, Danns remained at Liverpool after the transfer deadline and will hope senior opportunities come his way in domestic cups this season.
The arrival of Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike are not conducive to Danns forcing his way into the matchday squad, but he could add valuable depth later in the campaign for Arne Slot.
As for other international updates, Ekitike made his debut for France, while Isak was left on the bench as Sweden opted against taking a big risk with the striker after a disrupted pre-season.
