Ryan Gravenberch was rested for the Netherlands, as five Liverpool players featured for 90 minutes of international football on Sunday evening.
Liverpool’s holding midfielder sat on the bench for the Netherlands’ 3-2 win over Lithuania, having played 90 minutes in their 1-1 draw against Poland on Thursday.
Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo were involved, however, playing 90 minutes in a World Cup qualifier that nearly proved a banana skin for Ronald Koeman’s side.
Gakpo was involved from the off and created the opener, reaching the byline and delivering a sharp cross for Memphis Depay to divert into the net and become his nation’s all-time top scorer.

While the night ended in victory, the Netherlands didn’t have it all their own way as Lithuania scored twice before the break to level the scoreline going into half time.
Depay scored again in the second half to put the visitors back in front and take his tally to 52 goals in 104 appearances, overtaking Robin van Persie’s total of 50 in 102 games.
Liverpool’s duo were both heavily involved, Van Dijk taking more touches (109) and playing more passes into the final third (23) than anyone else.
Meanwhile, Gakpo created more chances (3) and took more touches in the opposition box (13) than any other player, according to FotMob.

The victory leaves the Dutch top of Group G, with 10 points from four matches and having played one game fewer than their competitors.
Wirtz scores, Mama keeps clean sheet
Elsewhere, Giorgi Mamardashvili kept a clean sheet for Georgia as they produced an impressive 3-0 home win over Bulgaria.
The goalkeeper had a relatively relaxed game between the posts and was forced into just two saves on the night.
Over in Cologne, Germany beat Northern Ireland 3-1 as Florian Wirtz came up against Conor Bradley and scored a fantastic free-kick.

Wirtz scored Germany’s third when, 25 yards from goal, he bent the ball beautifully over the wall and into diving goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s top right corner.
As he ran to celebrate, the 22-year-old held a finger to his ear in a reference to the criticism he had received from some quarters in Germany.
On Monday night, we could see Alexander Isak come off the bench for Sweden against Kosovo, while Andy Robertson‘s Scotland face Belarus and Giovanni Leoni goes up against Israel for Italy.
