Twenty-two Liverpool players took part in first-team training before flying to Germany on Tuesday afternoon, with Ryan Gravenberch the notable missing figure.

Along with Alisson, Giovanni Leoni, Stefan Bajcetic and Jayden Danns, the midfielder was sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained against Man United on Sunday.

In more positive news, though, Wataru Endo returned from injury to train, having missed the international break and Man United match due to a hamstring problem.

Liverpool FC: On this day

It was on October 21 in 1978 that Bob Paisley won his 100th league game as Liverpool manager in his 179th league match.

The occasion was a home fixture against Chelsea which Liverpool won 2-1, thanks to goals from David Johnson and Kenny Dalglish.

Liverpool would go on to win the league that season with a record points tally of 68 (when a win was worth two points).

Goalkeeper Ray Clemence kept 28 clean sheets that season as the Reds conceded just four goals at home – how Liverpool could do with some of that stability now!
