Alexander Isak has emerged as another injury concern after being substituted at half time during Liverpool’s 5-1 win at Frankfurt, with Arne Slot revealing why he was taken off.
The trip to Germany was Isak’s second start in four days and his fifth for club and country in just 19 days, with his number of minutes rising steeply after being carefully managed.
On Wednesday, however, he was withdrawn at half time and fears that it was due to an injury concern have now been confirmed by Slot, who told TNT Sports that Isak “felt his groin.”
Speaking after the much-needed win, Slot said of his No. 9: “He had to go off at half time because he felt his groin a little bit. So that’s a pity.
“I’ve said it many times, it’s such a difficult balance to find with a player that missed out three months.

“You bring him slowly, you bring him slowly and people also, maybe sometimes argue with me if you cannot play him more and more often.
“And now we’ve played him for the second time in three days, and unfortunately, he had to go off. So let’s hope for the best.
“But it’s not an easy balance to find if a player has been out for so long.”
Liverpool’s head coach then added in his press conference that, “He wasn’t in the red zone…we thought he was well prepared but the margins at the top are small.
“I am hoping that this does not have to be that bad. If he would be out for a few weeks, that would throw him back, so let’s wait.”
Frankfurt 1-5 Liverpool: Player Ratings
It would be yet another blow for Liverpool if Isak was forced to sit on the sidelines having only just deemed his ‘pre-season’ with the club over after a compromised summer.
Isak’s issue also comes after Jeremie Frimpong was forced off early in the first half at Frankfurt with a hamstring issue – he missed two games earlier this season with the same issue.
