Andy Robertson left the field at Chelsea with concern over his fitness, but 90 minutes in a comeback win against Kostas Tsimikas‘ Greece has allayed any lingering fears.
The Scot limped off the pitch at Stamford Bridge and there were question marks over whether he would be able to captain his country during the international break.
But he trained as normal and then was named in Steve Clarke’s starting lineup for their World Cup qualifier against Greece on Thursday evening, with Robertson playing all but the final moments.
As per FotMob, Liverpool’s vice-captain had the second-most touches of any Scotland player (59), created the joint-most chances (two), and had the second-most defensive contributions (nine).
For Arne Slot, the outing was a positive sign that he will not have to plan without Robertson for the short term, but the performance from Scotland was not as pleasing for the 31-year-old.

“We’re buzzing with the result but know how frustrated we were on the pitch,” Robertson said after the match.
Greece were unlucky not to have the advantage at half time after dominating possession and firing off five shots to one, but Tsimikas scored in the second half after a rebound in the penalty box.
It was his first goal for his country and he told Nova Sports he dedicated it to his “friends, Diogo Jota, of course to [George] Baldock, but also to those who have left us.”
It was a deserved goal for Greece, but it sprang Scotland to life, and they went on to score two minutes later before adding another two goals for a 3-1 win that keeps them in contention for a World Cup spot.
Tsimikas played the full match, while Robertson was taken off as a very late substitution as Scotland wound down the clock before they were gifted their third goal from a goalkeeper error.
Both Robertson and Tsimikas have one game left to play during the October break, with the former to wrap up his time with Scotland against Belarus on Sunday.
In other news, Mohamed Salah will be rested by Egypt for their second match having secured their place in the 2026 World Cup last time out.
