Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat away to Brentford has cranked up the pressure on Arne Slot, with fans questioning the team’s approach and lack of improvement.
There was always a fear that the 5-1 win at Eintracht Frankfurt was an anomaly in an otherwise appalling run of performances and results.
That proved to be the case, with Liverpool back to an abject level against Brentford, showing a lack of control and fight throughout.
It is now four Premier League defeats in a row and questions are being asked of Slot, who looks lost.
These Liverpool fans gave their thoughts on social media and in This Is Anfield‘s comments, following another awful night.
People will naturally compare this to the bad spells we had under Klopp, but you could always point to the reasons for them (20/21 defender injuries, 22/23 failing to recognise midfield was done). Stuff that could be rectified. This isn't comparable, because where do you start?

When five substitutions are being made every game, when players are being shoehorned into positions and every change looks like a desperate gamble, it tells you everything was wrong to start off with. Dominik Szoboszlai the only one (again) near the necessary level.

“Something has to change, no coherent mindset on the pitch, very disjointed, too many loose passes and not enough heart.”
– Stuart Ellis on Facebook
You have to ask massive questions of Slot, by the way. No doubt about it.
Losing five out of six games as Liverpool manager, with this squad, is unacceptable.
Sacked? Of course not. But a huge response is needed or things could get ugly.

No quality. No fight. Very worrying. #LFC

“The real Slot has been kidnapped. This must be Erik Ten Hag wearing his skin!”

We've lost 5 of our last 6 games, 4 in a row in the league.
I think it's absolutely acceptable to be questioning Slot despite what he achieved last season. You'd be under pressure at any club with that record – shit, look at Ange

Title defence over in October after spending £400m. Absolutely shameful

Lost for words. Individual errors, stupidity and daft tactics are what’s costing us. We’re making this so much harder for ourselves than it needs to be. Deserved nothing less than a loss & that’s become a concerning theme. We just aren’t learning.

I’m not going to be over reactionary and call for Slot to go but he needs to fix this soon. 5 defeats out of 6 with no sign he is changing/improving things is a MASSIVE problem. And if we are brutally honest, we’ve barely played well since the PSG/league cup final week in March.

“Slot doesn’t have a clue. Out of his depth wrong team selections wrong subs. Absolutely clueless.”
– Mark Harris on Facebook
It was almost impossible to envisage Slot being under any pressure so soon after winning the Premier League title with Liverpool.
But this is not good enough, and a team with the quality of this Reds side cannot afford to lose five matches out of six.
Calling for Slot to be sacked is hyperbole, but even his most ardent supporter cannot be remotely happy with what we are seeing.
This is the first genuine crisis of his managerial career, and he is still relatively young in the job, so this is going to be an enormous test of his credentials.
