Calvin Ramsay‘s last appearance for Liverpool’s first team came in November 2022, but the right-back is now in contention for an unlikely return against Crystal Palace.
Ramsay will be considered for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup fourth-round tie at Anfield in light of Jeremie Frimpong‘s hamstring injury.
Frimpong’s absence leaves Conor Bradley as Arne Slot‘s only other fit specialist right-back and rotation is likely to be employed for the cup.
Whether that will see Ramsay brought into the starting lineup remains to be seen, but the Scot is expected to make the squad for the 7.45pm kickoff.
The 22-year-old has spent the campaign so far as part of the U21s squad with no transfer developing over the summer, and he was brought off after an hour in Sunday’s 4-1 victory over Everton.
Ramsay scored the young Reds’ second goal on his eighth appearance of the season, and his early withdrawal could hint at his involvement in midweek.
Ramsay’s long road back to Liverpool’s first team

If he is included, it would mark the first time he has been involved with Liverpool’s senior squad since a Carabao Cup clash with Derby in November 2022.
He was outstanding in that game – his first start and only his second appearance for the club to date – but subsequent injury issues blighted his development.
The right-back failed to kick on in four successive loan spells with Preston, Bolton, Wigan and Kilmarnock, while his return to Scotland in the final months before his 22nd birthday removed him from homegrown eligibility in the Premier League.
But he has shown his commitment as a regular with the U21s this term and has even worn the captain’s armband on three occasions.

It is likely that Slot includes a number of academy players for the clash with Palace, though he must balance the desire to rotate with the need to secure a morale-boosting victory.
With Aston Villa to come on Saturday night it is feasible that the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Dominik Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitike all drop out.
That should provide opportunities for Joe Gomez, Wataru Endo, Trey Nyoni, Federico Chiesa and Rio Ngumoha, while Rhys Williams, Kaide Gordon and Kieran Morrison could be named on the bench again.
Goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is expected to start in place of Giorgi Mamardashvili, who has filled in for Alisson in the last four games.
