Curtis Jones set a new record for a Liverpool player in a Champions League tie during the 5-1 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old helped the Reds end their four-game losing streak by completing 122 out of the 127 passes he attempted at the Deutsche Bank Park.
Jones’ total was the highest number a Liverpool player has managed in the Champions League since Opta started collecting data in the 2003/04 season.

Prior to the game Dominik Szoboslzai, who has been used as a makeshift full-back at times this campaign, was the Liverpool midfielder with the most completed passes per 90 minutes, averaging 58.
The thrashing of the Bundesliga outfit was only Jones’ fourth start of the season, as he lined up alongside Szoboszlai in a new-look 4-4-2 system.
The outing in Germany came after the England international was one of the few shining lights to emerge from Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Man United.
Speaking to LFCTV after the game, Jones said: “Stick with the plan. I’ve been saying it for a couple of weeks, our games feel as if they are basketball games, it’s end-to-end a lot.
“I can dominate a game if I’ve got the ball a lot”
“I’ve come in the team and the thing in my mind is I want to get on the ball. I want the team to play through me.
“I can dominate a game if I’ve got the ball a lot, and I have Dom alongside me who is comfortable on the ball as well. I think our goal was to get on the ball and play.
“The crowd of theirs was amazing, so it was important that we kept going all the time and didn’t let it affect our play.
“Look at our team, with the likes of Flo and Alexis, Hugo up there, Cody off the left – who is always going to score and assist. I feel that we have to have the trust in them, and that’s what we did and we came away with the win – so I’m made up.”
In addition to Jones, Florian Wirtz also returned to the starting XI for the clash in Germany after being dropped for the Reds’ recent defeats to United and Chelsea.
The Germany international repaid the faith shown in him by Arne Slot as he recored his first assists for Liverpool after teeing up Cody Gakpo and Szoboszlai in the second half.
The nature of the performances from Jones, Szoboszlai and Wirtz will leave Slot with plenty to think about ahead of trip to Brentford on Saturday night.
Victory over Frankfurt moved Liverpool up to 10th in the Champions League league phase.
