Liverpool’s latest defeat has continued to cause debate, while an intriguing new Jurgen Klopp interview has been released and a former Red has found a new club.
Jurgen Klopp on ‘The Diary of a CEO’
Klopp’s interview on Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast, recorded last week and released on Monday morning, has been rather timely, creating plenty of headlines the morning after a fourth consecutive defeat for Arne Slot‘s side.
Klopp’s admission that “theoretically it’s possible” he could return to Liverpool one day took the lead, while he also spoke on a wide range of topics, including Philippe Coutinho‘s departure, transfer spending, his relationship with Michael Edwards, Diogo Jota‘s death, and plenty more.
In full, it’s two and a half hours.
Former Liverpool striker joins Macclesfield
Young Max Woltman showed big potential as a quick striker in the academy, earning himself two appearances in the first team under Jurgen Klopp.
Ultimately, though, he didn’t make the step up permanently to the senior squad and left his boyhood club for Oxford United in 2023.
The Wirralian made just three appearances for them in the end, and he left at the end of his contract this summer.
Thankfully he has now found a new club, Macclesfield, who play in the sixth-tier of English football, the National League North.
Manager John Rooney, the younger brother of Wayne Rooney, said: “I’m made up that we’ve managed to get the deal over the line with Max, he was really highly thought of at Liverpool, he’s got bags of ability and has really impressed me in training (as a trialist) over the last few weeks.”
From making his Liverpool debut at San Siro to turning out in the sixth tier at Macclesfield, Woltman’s young career has certainly had its ups and downs so far.
Hopefully, despite this initially only being a ‘short-term deal’, the Silkmen can provide a platform for the 22-year-old to kick on!

Yes, it is true that Liverpool missed several big chances against Man United and, on another day, the scoreline may have looked very different at full time.
However, an upturn in the Reds’ finishing wouldn’t solve their current problems Sam Millne writes:
“At the beginning of Liverpool’s 2024/25 campaign, it became evident that part of Slot’s approach to evolving from Jurgen Klopp was to eliminate some of the risk involved in the German’s style.
“The team were controlling games more often and 2-0 became a common scoreline – they won 12 of their 56 matches in all competitions by a two-goal margin.
“Only three times in the Premier League did they score more than three goals last season, four fewer occasions than in the 2023/24 campaign.”

Liverpool FC: On this day
Happy birthday to Mr Ian Rush who turns 64 years old on October 20!
As Liverpool’s greatest-ever goalscorer, every now and again it is worth remembering just what an incredible record he boasts.
The Welshman scored 346 goals in 660 appearances for the Reds, a tally that will surely never be broken.
The closest to him on Liverpool’s all-time top scorers list is Roger Hunt, who managed 275 in 492 appearances from 1959 to 1969.
Behind him is Mo Salah with 248 goals in 412 appearances – the Egyptian’s games per goal ratio of 1.66 matches per goal is actually better than the two strikers above him.
