Liverpool have begun to drop hints over Arne Slot‘s squad for the Carabao Cup clash with Crystal Palace, with a change in starting goalkeeper all but confirmed.
Slot is expected to rotate his squad for the fourth-round tie at Anfield on Wednesday night and that could see a number of fringe and academy players brought in.
One of his changes will see summer signing Freddie Woodman start in place of Giorgi Mamardashvili, with the 28-year-old’s pre-match interview with LFCTV effectively confirming his involvement.
“I’m really excited by the opportunity that could come,” Woodman, who joined from Preston on a free transfer, reflected.

“But ultimately I’ve been preparing and been ready for every game I’ve been involved in this season.
“Wednesday night will be no different for me.”
Woodman added: “When I signed for this club, [I thought] if I could have just got one game; that was the dream, that was the ambition.
“So hopefully Wednesday night I can make that happen. But getting a result and getting through to the next round – that’s the importance of the game and obviously of the competition.”
Trent Kone-Doherty expected to be in the squad

Another player who appears set to come into contention is 19-year-old winger Trent Kone-Doherty, who has been in outstanding form again this season as part of the U21s.
Kone-Doherty scored twice in the 5-4 victory over Frankfurt in the UEFA Youth League last Wednesday before assisting Keyrol Figueroa’s second goal in the 4-1 thrashing of Everton at the weekend.
He was another to speak to LFCTV ahead of the match in a clear indication that he will be involved.
“I think I’ve definitely developed [by being around the first team],” the Irishman, who debuted as a substitute in the FA Cup defeat to Plymouth last season, explained.
“Even when I first came, physically and stuff, I was nowhere near what I am now.

“Just in general in the game I’ve definitely learned a lot from the coaches and experiencing being around good players as well has helped me a lot.
“The standards are really high so you just want to keep up, try and show what you can do as well when you’re over there [with the first team].
“And obviously those players are some of the best in the world, so they’re going to keep the standards high; if you’re dropping below them, they’ll let you know that you need to raise them.”
Slot declined the opportunity to hold a press conference to preview the clash with Palace on Tuesday but further indications are expected over the players available for Liverpool.
