Liverpool U19s twice came from behind to claim an incredible 5-4 win away at Eintracht Frankfurt U19s in the UEFA Youth League.

October 22, 2025
Goals: Oteng-Mensah 9′, Souza 34′, Fenyo 35′, Tsiokos 90+1′; Kone-Doherty 17′ 51′, Boakye Osei 22′ (og.), Sonni-Lambie 44′, O’Connor 68′
Rob Page’s under-19s lined up with a makeshift defence including two midfielders at full-back; Prince Cisse on the right and Alvin Ayman on the left.
Ahead of them, Trey Nyoni captained the side next to Joe Upton, with Kieran Morrison, Josh Sonni-Lambie and Trent Kone-Doherty playing behind striker Keyrol Figueroa – Jayden Danns and Will Wright are still out injured.
Frankfurt scored the first as Alexander Staff picked up a loose pass and surged into space on the right, where he crossed accurately for a simple Keziah Oteng-Mensah header.
Liverpool were level before long, though, thanks to Kone-Doherty who finished calmly after brilliantly controlling a fizzing pass from Morrison.
The Reds then took the lead, Morrison again involved down the right as he delivered a low cross that goalkeeper Amil Siljevic somehow managed to scuff through his own legs and into the net.
The goals kept coming meaning Liverpool only led for 12 minutes, Alessandro Gaul Souza levelling before the half’s most influential man, Noah Fenyo, scored from the edge of the box for the hosts.
The Hungarian’s strike will be one to learn from for goalkeeper Bailey Hall, who failed to push the bouncing ball clear when it was within reach.
The first-half scoring still wasn’t complete, however, as Sonni-Lambie, playing as No. 10 instead of a striker, still had time to score his ninth of the season as he latched onto a rebound from Morrison’s shot in the 44th minute.
Half time: Eintracht Frankfurt U19s 3-3 Liverpool U19s
The second half saw more chances for both teams but Liverpool were more clinical in front of goal.
The visitors’ fourth came thanks to a fantastic finish from Kone-Doherty, who slammed the ball into the roof of the net after a nice first touch to manoeuvre the ball into a shooting position inside the box.
Just after the hour mark, Page made his first change, replacing Sonni-Lambie with Ollie O’Connor in attacking midfield.
It took the substitute fewer than 10 minutes to double Liverpool’s advantage, running onto a nice pass from Morrison before finishing across goal – again, the Frankfurt goalkeeper could have done better.
Immediately after the goal, 16-year-old La’more Lee Forrester came on for Cisse, which meant O’Connor went to right-back to allow Lee Forrester to play among the attacking quartet.
The forward line changed again with 85 minutes on the clock when Joe Bradshaw replaced Figueroa, while Lucas Clarke was brought on for the injured Emmanuel Airoboma, who had been stretching his hamstring in defence.
Aided by 14-year-old substitute Niko Ilicevic, Frankfurt pushed to get back into the game and got one back at the beginning of injury time thanks to substitute Leonidas Tsiokos.
With Ayman having cleared one off the line, Liverpool were now hanging on by a thread and their nerves weren’t helped by Hall almost spilling one into the path of a home player in the penalty box.
While conceding four goals isn’t ideal, scoring five away from home will be more than satisfactory for the Reds who have seven points at the halfway point of the league phase.
It was a particularly good afternoon for Morrison who was Liverpool’s player of the match, despite not scoring. He had an impact on all five goals and showed how impactful he can be from the right.
