Liverpool welcomed back one midfielder and felt the absence of another ahead of the Champions League meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.
Arne Slot‘s next opportunity to turn his side’s fortunes around comes on the European stage against a Frankfurt outfit that have produced 54 goals in 10 games this season.
Liverpool did not come out of their defeat over the weekend unscathed, with another fitness issue emerging. Here’s who is and is not available for Wednesday’s match:
• Wataru Endo (hamstring) – available
• Ryan Gravenberch (ankle) – out
• Alisson (hamstring) – out
• Giovanni Leoni (ACL) – out
• Jayden Danns (hamstring) – out
• Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring) – out
Liverpool named a 21-man travelling squad, and Gravenberch was not included after sustaining an ankle injury against Man United.
Slot explained that the No. 38 is “not ready to play” but “hopefully he will be available at the weekend,” though that depends on how his ankle settles in the coming days.
The good news, however, was that Endo was back involved after missing the match over the weekend with a hamstring issue picked up prior to reporting for international duty.
There were no other new absentees, with Alisson, Leoni, Bajcetic and Danns all still sidelined with their respective injuries.
Slot is expected to make changes to his starting lineup in Frankfurt, with Andy Robertson, Jeremie Frimpong, Curtis Jones, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike among the candidates to start.
Jones is likely to partner Dominik Szoboszlai in midfield in the absence of Gravenberch, though Alexis Mac Allister is fit to feature – Endo, meanwhile, can add depth on the bench.
