Liverpool have one player under the risk of a suspension for the next Champions League match as they seek to avoid an unwanted record at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Conor Bradley will miss the fixture with Real Madrid at Anfield next month if he is shown a yellow carded during Wednesday’s match.
The full-back has already picked up two yellow cards in the competition, against Atletico Madrid and Galatasaray, and another will lead to a one-match ban.
Players are suspended in the Champions League after three cautions, that did not result in a red card, and any subsequent odd-numbered yellow card (fifth, seventh, etc.).
Liverpool do not want to re-write these records
Liverpool last lost five games in a row in September 1953, all of them in the league. They are currently on a run of four, the longest since November 2014.
It is more than six years since Liverpool last failed to score in successive away European games – at Barcelona in May 2019, and at Napoli four months later.
Late drama is the theme
Liverpool have not conceded a second-half goal to an opposition player in any of the last nine away matches in Europe. The only one in that period was a Bradley own goal at Sparta Prague in March 2024.
This season, 17 goals in 12 Liverpool games have been scored from the 76th minute onwards – nine have been scored by Slot’s men – always the flair for the dramatics, eh!
Mo is not in form, but he is still No. 1
Mo Salah has scored 112 goals for Liverpool away from Anfield. The next highest on that particular list from the current squad is Cody Gakpo with 14.
The Egyptian has 51 goals for the club in Europe; the rest of the current squad have 31 between them.
He remains two goals away from recording 250 for the Reds in all competitions.
Expect goals, lots of goals!
Frankfurt’s 10 fixtures this season have produced 54 goals, with them conceding 24 of those.
They have shipped 18 goals in their last five outings and have not kept a clean sheet in the last nine matches. They have conceded three or more goals in five of the last seven.
As for the other end of the pitch, they have scored three or more goals in six of their 10 games so far but have only netted three times in the last three games.
If you’re wondering about their European record, Frankfurt have won five of the last six home games in Europe, the only loss coming to Tottenham (0-1) in last season’s Europa League quarter-final.
This season’s scorers so far
Frankfurt: Burkardt 6, Uzun 6, Doan 4, Bahoya 3, Knauff 3, Koch 2, Aaronson 1, Brown 1, Chaibi 1, Wahl 1, own goals 2
Liverpool: Ekitike 5, Gakpo 3, Salah 3, Chiesa 2, Gravenberch 2, Frimpong 1, Isak 1, Ngumoha 1, Robertson 1, Szoboszlai 1, Van Dijk 1
