Marc Guehi came within hours of joining Liverpool on deadline day, but with a transfer to Anfield no longer guaranteed, reports in Germany claim a new meeting elsewhere.
Guehi remains the subject of interest from Liverpool having seen a £35 million move to the Premier League champions fall through at the last hour on deadline day.
Having already informed Crystal Palace he will not sign a new contract the centre-back is ensured a move from Selhurst Park in 2026.
But the knowledge that his contract expires at the end of the season means Liverpool are not necessarily front-runners when it comes to a free transfer.

Sky Germany now claim Bayern Munich have held a “secret meeting” with Guehi’s agent, with sporting director Max Eberl said to consider the 25-year-old as a replacement for Dayot Upamecano.
Upamecano finds himself in a similar position to the Palace captain, with his current deal at Bayern running down and with no sign of an extension so far.
Liverpool have in fact been linked with a move for the Frenchman, but there are no concrete claims that they would make a move.
Liverpool’s Guehi hopes: Details emerge after rival meeting

Guehi appears to remain the priority – albeit with further links to Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck and Sporting CP’s Zeno Debast and Ousmane Diomande – but the Reds could face competition from Bayern as well as Real Madrid.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on his Here We Go Podcast on Friday that Liverpool are among the clubs currently making proposals, with all involved “focusing on a free transfer.”
“Italy looks unlikely from what I understand; English clubs keep moving around, with Liverpool still there,” he explained.
“There is also interest from more clubs including Tottenham and Man City, the Spanish giants for sure and also Bayern. Bayern had contacts with people close to the player. So it’s a big race for Marc Guehi.
“What I can guarantee is the player has started to explore these possibilities, listening to proposals, listening to contract ideas, but also projects – it’s also about the technical project.
“Guehi has been a big leader for Crystal Palace, won titles for Crystal Palace in recent months, but obviously the next club is going to be in the race to win important competitions like maybe the Premier League and then obviously the Champions League.”
Guehi could be considered as a replacement for Ibrahima Konate, who himself is into the final year of his contract, but it is important to note the England international is predominantly left-sided.
That could indicate a long-term plan to succeed Virgil van Dijk, though there is no evidence of the Dutchman slowing down any time soon.
