Very few Liverpool players came away with any credit after losing 2-1 to home to Man United, with Milos Kerkez enduring another bad performance.
The Reds have now lost four matches in a row, with Harry Maguire’s late winner at Anfield subjecting the Premier League champions to their worst run of defeats in all competitions since November 2014.
Here we compare our ratings with those of TIA’s readers, the Liverpool Echo and GOAL.
Kerkez (3.73) has made a slow start to his Liverpool career and he got the lowest rating on Sunday, proving to be a hapless figure.
The left-back was “far too excitable when pressing forward,” according to the Echo‘s Ian Doyle, and GOAL’s Tom Bellwood thought he “endured a torrid first half.”
It was another poor day for Mohamed Salah (3.93), whose displays are now becoming a cause of concern.
This Is Anfield‘s Henry Jackson said that Arne Slot replacing him when a goal was needed “sums up his current form.”
It wasn’t a day to focus on positives, but Cody Gakpo (6.38) got the highest score after being Liverpool’s best attacker after a goal and multiple shots off the post.
Doyle felt he “constantly hounded the United right side,” at least creating chances and scoring the equaliser.
What the stats say
According to FotMob, Gakpo (8.3) was again Liverpool’s leading performer against United.
Nobody had more shots than the Dutchman’s tally of five, and he hit the post twice with fierce efforts that deserved to go in.
Virgil van Dijk (7.5) and Dominik Szoboszlai (7.5) made the most defensive contributions for the Reds – 16 and 12 respectively – while the former’s tally of 10 headed clearances was the most from either side.
For Salah, it was another bad day from a statistical perspective, with the 33-year-old not managing a single successful dribble (0/2).
Alexander Isak is also still struggling to find top form, missing one big chance and only having four touches in the opposition box.
