Mohamed Salah will be rested by Egypt – good news for Liverpool

Mohamed Salah will be rested for Egypt’s second and final match of the international break, which is good news for Liverpool.

Salah has been an ever-present for Liverpool again so far this season, and opportunities for rest are few and far between, but Egypt are reportedly to sit him out of their next fixture.

With World Cup qualification secured last time out, in part thanks to a brace from the winger, their match against Guinea-Bissau on Sunday is moot.

According to KingFut, a reliable source for Egyptian news, Salah will remain with the team to celebrate their success but will be rested for their next match.

Although there will be an argument that the potential more goals before he returns to Liverpool could act as a boost, this way he avoids injury and comes back with fresh legs.

With Liverpool not facing Man United until October 19, Salah is in no rush to be back on Merseyside until the whole team reconvenes for the first time later in the week, likely on Thursday.

The 33-year-old has played the third-most minutes for Liverpool so far this season (838), starting all but two of the 10 matches to date, with three goals and three assists.

He has been increasingly under the microscope after another tweak to his role has put him on the periphery of matches, though the hope is that this will soon change for the better.

Early last month, Salah emphasised the adjustment that is needed, not only from himself, but from the whole team to connect with the club’s new signings.

“So far I didn’t figure the connections out yet. Like with Darwin or Lucho or the guys they used to play in front, or Diogo. I knew where to start with Diogo or Darwin,” he told the Men In Blazers.

“I know where to find them. I knew their game very well but with Hugo he’s still new.

“Sometimes I need the ball in the field. Sometimes we need [it] in the space. We try to figure that out, through the training sessions or like the videos. The manager shows us.

“So I will figure it out soon because also it’s going to help my game to grow as well.”
