As the World Cup qualifying groups drew to a close, 17 Liverpool players featured for their countries at senior level with six registering a goal or assist.
While some experienced jubilation, others suffered heartbreak as Liverpool’s players’ World Cup qualifying fates were mostly decided.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez were left dejected after Troy Parrott’s 96th-minute winner for the Republic of Ireland denied Hungary a play-off position.
There was joy, though, for Andy Robertson who captained Scotland to their first World Cup since 1998, thanks to their dramatic 4-2 win over Denmark on Tuesday night.
For Robertson and those who secured their passage to the World Cup or the play-offs, Liverpool will hope to capitalise on a confidence boost.
However, for those who missed out, they must switch their attention back to club football and channel their frustration into winning with the Reds.

Four Liverpool players played maximum minutes over the last two weeks; Virgil van Dijk, Szoboszlai and Robertson the three outfielders who weren’t afforded any rest.

Goals

Hugo Ekitike enjoyed a memorable night at the Parc des Princes as he scored a brilliant first goal for France.
Liverpool’s attacking Frenchman picked the ball up in his own half before driving through the chasing Ukraine players and playing a one-two with Kylian Mbappe, which he finished with a first-time effort.

Assists

Wirtz was back on form for Germany as he controlled the game and provided two assists in five minutes as Jurgen Klopp watched the national team thrash Slovakia 6-0.
