Arne Slot praised Anfield’s tributes to Diogo Jota, as Wolves manager Rob Edwards labelled Liverpool a “classy club.”
Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Wolves was the first meeting of Jota’s former English clubs since his passing.
Two of Jota’s sons, Dinis and Duarte, walked out alongside Virgil van Dijk and other members of their family as Diogo’s widow, Rute, watched from the side of the pitch.
Slot admitted the day was “difficult but in a way also special and nice.”
Both sets of supporters joined in with each other’s chants for Jota, and Slot commented: “I think again the football world showed how to behave in moments like this.

“Our fans have been incredible since the tragedy has happened until today.
“Every single moment they’ve done what you would hope they do in memory of him, but today again, the away fans showed that it’s not only about our fans but it’s also about fans of other teams.
“Eighteenth minute, they started singing for Diogo, the Wolves fans, and our fans were clapping. And in the 20th minute, it was the opposite way around.
“So you guys know and I know for one-and-a-half years now how special English fans are, and today I think we’ve shown to the outside world, the whole world, that it’s not only the players who make this league special but it’s definitely also the fans.”
Wolves visit Diogo Jota memorial and Rob Edwards calls Liverpool “classy”

Ahead of the match, Wolves‘ team visited Anfield on Friday evening to attend the temporary memorial for Jota outside the Main Stand.
Some of the squad and staff knew Jota well from their three years at Molineux, and they took time to remember the Portuguese forward.
After the match, manager Edwards said: “I think it was a really poignant moment and really emotional for one of two of our staff and players as well that knew him really well.
“I think it was right and really good that we did that last night. [We] paid our respects and it was a really nice but emotional moment.
“And obviously again, with his family here today, again it would have been really emotional but for two clubs that he represented so well and gave so much to.
“Both clubs, Liverpool are a very classy club as well and they always respect their players, and it was a real nice moment.”
