It is here, finally, the end of the 2025 summer transfer window – and it promises to be one of the most memorable for Liverpool fans.
News broke late on Sunday night that a deal had been agreed for Alexander Isak, while talks for Marc Guehi appear to rest on whether Crystal Palace can somehow secure a replacement in the hours before the 7pm (BST) deadline.
Meanwhile, there could be departures, with Joe Gomez and Harvey Elliott potentially leaving should certain moving parts fall into place.
Here’s what to expect on transfer deadline day:
Alexander Isak medical booked in
With a £125 million fee agreed and Isak set to put pen to paper on a six-year contract, only the formalities are left to complete ahead of the Swede’s official signing.
Having reportedly been staying on Merseyside, the Swede will undergo his medical on Monday as the media team prepare to share the news of his official arrival.
Will we get all the unveiling media this evening? Or will we have to wait to tomorrow for that? Let’s see.
Marc Guehi transfer depends on Crystal Palace decision
Due to the moving nature of the day, things can change quickly, but at the time of writing, reports are mixed on the chances of Liverpool signing their centre-half of choice.
Sunday night saw the press briefed that a deal was ‘getting closer’, and the odds of the Reds getting Guehi in would significantly increase if Crystal Palace sign another defender.
Journalist Charlie Parker-Turner reported on Monday morning that the Eagles have agreed a deal to bring in Brighton‘s Igor Julio on a season-long loan, with Sky Sports adding that there will be an option to buy him next summer – news that can only be positive for Liverpool.
Manager Oliver Glasner would clearly prefer to keep his captain, saying: “We have no chance to find the right replacement in one day. We all agreed that we just sell Marc if we have the right replacement in the building.”
Crucially, though, the final decision will likely be made by chairman Steve Parish, above Glasner’s head.
Joe Gomez wanted by AC Milan – if Marc Guehi arrives
This rumour came out of the blue on Saturday, but it has quickly developed into a transfer that could happen, with AC Milan having already made a £13m bid, according to the Times‘ Paul Joyce.
Italian source Gianluca Di Marzio has written that Gomez “has expressed openness to the transfer,” but Merseyside journalists say he would only be allowed to leave if Guehi were to arrive before the deadline.
Crystal Palace also proposed taking Gomez on loan as part of a deal for Guehi, but this was described as a “non-starter for Liverpool” by Joyce.
Elliott awaiting official bids
With Isak joining Liverpool, the path is now clearer for Harvey Elliott to leave.
However, the Mail‘s Lewis Steele said on Monday morning that there have been “no official bids” yet from RB Leipzig.
It is possible that he could still depart, but the Bundesliga club’s “several approaches” were short of Liverpool’s £50m asking price, though they are ‘expected to return’, added Steele.
The Times report that Aston Villa are also “monitoring” Elliott.
Loan moves for youngsters – and Rhys Williams
There are also several moves for Liverpool’s youngsters that could still happen, the likes of Calvin Ramsay, Oakley Cannonier and 24-year-old Rhys Williams notably all available for loans.
Remarkably, the latter still has another year left on his contract after spending last season at Morecambe, where he played 38 times as the Shrimps finished bottom of the fourth division.
Calum Scanlon, Luke Chambers, Amara Nallo and Clae Ewing would have been expected to head out on loan, too, but all four are currently injured.
Stefan Bajcetic is not leaving on loan, but Kaide Gordon could move temporarily as Blackpool show an interest.
