10 goals, 5 assists and 6 Liverpool players play maximum international minutes

Liverpool’s senior internationals enjoyed a relatively successful period away as six players played the maximum number of minutes available.

As the Reds’ internationals fly back to Merseyside, it is worth looking back on how much football they have played over the last two weeks.

It is something Liverpool’s fitness staff will monitor closely, with their international action informing Arne Slot‘s lineups in the coming weeks.

This was a potentially confidence-boosting break for Liverpool, as our players scored 10 goals and produced five assists for their nations.

Six of Liverpool’s first team played all of their country’s two games, with Cody Gakpo and Milos Kerkez also figuring for nearly 180 minutes across the last fortnight.

For some, like Andy Robertson, it is a bonus for Liverpool that he is able to maintain his match sharpness while playing second fiddle at his club.

However, Slot would probably have preferred his regulars, such as Alexis Mac Allister, to be be given time off instead!

Successive 4-0 wins for the Netherlands were marked by three goals from Cody Gakpo, a much-needed boost after his recent poor displays for the Reds.

Mo Salah was also on the scoresheet, scoring twice as Egypt secured World Cup qualification, therefore meaning he could be rested for their second match.

Alexis Mac Allister didn’t feature in Argentina’s first match, but did score twice and excel in their 6-0 thrashing of Puerto Rico.

Dominik Szoboszlai continued his excellent form, scoring Hungary’s late equaliser against Portugal.

But before that, he had set up the game’s opening goal with a vicious corner that flew all the way through to Attila Szalai who headed home at the far post.

Meanwhile, Hugo Ekitike notched his first goal contribution for France as he set up Kylian Mbappe’s opener against Azerbaijan.
