Liverpool faced a delay of over three hours for their flight to Frankfurt, with Arne Slot‘s side avoiding the need to divert to a different airport.
Liverpool were due to fly to Frankfurt late on Tuesday afternoon, but technical issues with the aircraft caused a delay of over three hours at John Lennon Airport.
Slot’s press conference in Frankfurt was consequently unable to take place as the team were grounded on Merseyside during the scheduled start time.
As per the Athletic‘s James Pearce, Liverpool were given the green light to depart for Frankfurt just over three hours after their scheduled departure time.
They were facing a looming deadline as Frankfurt’s airport closes for arrivals at 10pm (BST), but a flight time of less than two hours means Liverpool were not diverted or delayed further.

It is not ideal preparation on the eve of the Champions League fixture, but a 22-man squad were put through their paces earlier in the afternoon at the AXA Training Centre.
Ryan Gravenberch was the only new absentee after he twisted his ankle over the weekend and he has not been named in the 21-man travelling squad for the match.
Wataru Endo, meanwhile, has travelled after returning to training following a hamstring issue, with no surprises from Slot, unlike last time when Federico Chiesa was left out.
The Italian trained as normal, and after playing a role in another Liverpool goal against Man United, the calls for a starting berth continue to grow louder.
Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmoller, meanwhile, has announced he is dropping his first-choice goalkeeper Kaua Santos for Liverpool’s visit, with Michael Zetterer taking his place.
