Federico Chiesa starts for the first time in the Premier League this season as Arne Slot is forced into two changes for Liverpool’s clash with Wolves at Anfield.
Slot has made two changes to the side that beat Tottenham 2-1 last weekend, as the Reds play out their final game of 2025.
Liverpool confirmed XI vs Wolves: At a glance
• Two changes: Federico Chiesa and Jeremie Frimpong replace Conor Bradley and the suspended Dominik Szoboszlai.
• Chiesa’s chance: Liverpool’s cult hero has only started once before in the Premier League – against Brighton in May, with the title already won.
• Injuries over: Bradley and Cody Gakpo both make the bench having recovered from injury concerns.
Alisson is one of those retained, starting behind a back four of Jeremie Frimpong, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Milos Kerkez.
Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones and Alexis Mac Allister are part of the midfield with Dominik Szoboszlai out with suspension.
That means Florian Wirtz plays either as a No. 10 or out wide on the left, with the German’s role depending on where Slot fits Chiesa in.
If Chiesa is considered a striker alongside Hugo Ekitike, it will likely come with Liverpool lining up in a 4-4-2 diamond formation, while the 28-year-old is also a possibility on the right.

Cody Gakpo and Conor Bradley both make the bench after injury concerns and join youngsters Wellity Lucky, Calvin Ramsay, Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha among those in reserve.
Chiesa’s last and only other start in the Premier League came in the 3-2 loss to Brighton on May 19, when the title was already won.
