Jayden Danns is set for a long-term layoff after injuring his hamstring with the Liverpool U21s last month, and the striker is now likely to undergo surgery.
Danns pulled up immediately after taking a free-kick in a 3-2 defeat to Ipswich U21s at the end of September, with head coach Rob Page later updating that it was “not going to be a quick fix.”
This Is Anfield was told shortly after the incident that the youngster had suffered a serious tear to his hamstring and would require surgery.
That now appears to be the case, with the Mail‘s Lewis Steele corroborating information around Danns needing an operation to correct the damage.
If true Danns is expected to be sidelined for a number of months, with a return-to-play timeline likely similar to that of Stefan Bajcetic.
Bajcetic still out after similar surgery

Bajcetic underwent surgery on his hamstring at the end of May, and while the midfielder is stepping up his recovery work with individual training at the AXA Training Centre he is yet to be considered for involvement with the team.
Five months after his operation, the next step for the Spaniard will be to build up his game time as part of Page’s U21s.
Danns was in the frame for a mid-season loan move prior to his latest injury, but those plans will now be shelved as he focuses on his long-term fitness.
This new setback is a familiar story for the 19-year-old, whose progress through the academy ranks to the first team has been blighted by a number of different issues.
“It’s a setback for him, but Dannsy is very positive about everything in life, especially football,” Page explained earlier this month.

“If anybody can get through this setback, it’s him without doubt
“He has the full support of the medical team and myself and the staff. He’ll get through it.”
Along with Danns and Bajcetic, Liverpool currently count Alisson and Giovanni Leoni as long-term absentees from the first team, while a host of players are also sidelined at academy level.
Those include strikers Kareem Ahmed and Will Wright, with the loss of three attacking options seeing 17-year-old Josh Sonni-Lambie begin to step up from the U18s to the U21s.
Page is also without Luke Chambers, Calum Scanlon, Clae Ewing and Kyle Kelly at present, while right-back Isaac Mabaya has returned to the club from his loan spell at Wigan after surgery on a serious Achilles injury.
