Young Reds looking for glory

Liverpool’s youth team face Manchester City in the FA Youth Cup Final, 1st leg, at Anfield on Thursday evening. A crowd of 25,000 is expected to see some of the future stars of the first team in action.

Captain Jack Hobbs will be hoping to lead his side to success and achieve what Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen did in 1996 to lift the Cup. He told the official Reds site “I was reading in a magazine the other day about how Jamie Carragher won the Youth Cup with Liverpool back in 1996. You could see from the joy on his face in the pictures just what it meant to him at the time. We are desperate to do the same.”

The young Reds have been lead by Paco Herrera and Hughie McAuley, and the likes of Godwin Antwi, Paul Anderson, David Roberts (goalkeeper signed from MK Dons mid-season), Adam Hammill and Craig Lindfield will be hoping to crown a good season with the trophy.

Tickets are 7 pound adults and 3 pound kids, in the Kop, Main Stand and lower Centenary.

The match is also live on Sky Sports.
