Confirmed Liverpool lineup vs. Chelsea: Henderson out, Clyne in for huge clash

Jurgen Klopp has made one change to his Liverpool side for today’s clash with Chelsea, at the Reds push for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Stamford Bridge plays host to one of the most important games of the weekend as both sides vie for a place in next season’s Champions League.

Liverpool arrive in west London in a more favourable position, requiring a win in either of their two final league outings, with a draw also likely enough to secure fourth.

But having turned out in an intense Champions League semi-final second leg at Roma on Wednesday, and already plagued with injuries, fatigue could play a role.

Klopp has gone full throttle for the victory, though, making just one alteration to his side from Stadio Olimpico.

Loris Karius starts in goal, behind a back four of Nathaniel Clyne Dejan Lovren, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson, with Clyne replacing Jordan Henderson.

Injuries to Emre Can and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ensure Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold start in midfield, as Klopp shows faith in the youngster.

And with few other options to rotate in attack, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino form Klopp’s forward line ready for one final push.

With Brighton to travel to Anfield for next weekend’s league closer, the Reds will be eager to tie up their objective before Chris Hughton’s survivors take to the field.

Having drawn three of their last four games on the domestic stage, Liverpool could have their work out for them as they look to balance their priorities at this pivotal stage.
