Pepe Reina drops biggest hint yet of move to Barcelona

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has increased speculation regarding his future at the club, saying that he wouldn’t be able to say no if Barcelona moved in to re-sign him.

The Spanish champions are looking for a new goalkeeper this summer after Victor Valdes signalled his intention to leave the club.

Meanwhile Liverpool have been linked with a number of goalkeepers to replace Reina, including Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic.

“You can’t say no to Barcelona,” Reina is quoted in the Metro as saying. “At this moment in time nothing has been signed, and I still have a contract with Liverpool.”

Reina and Marc-André ter Stegen are reportedly on the shortlist for the Catalan giants.

Reina has made 395 appearances for Liverpool since signing from Villarreal in 2005, in which time he has won the FA Cup and the League Cup with the club.

He was also part of Spain’s World Cup and European Championship winning squads of 2010 and 2008 & 2012.

Should he complete a move to the Nou Camp this summer, he will be returning to the club he started his career at, making 30 appearances for the Barcelona first team between 2000 and 2002.

He famously played (with hair!) against Liverpool for the Catalan giants in the UEFA Cup Semi-Final 2001, where Liverpool dispensed of Barca 1-0 at Anfield thanks to a Gary McAllister penalty.

Reina launched his official Twitter account today, @PReina25.
