Rafa hails another successful campaign

Rafael Benitez says that this season the team have made massive progress, despite a disappointing end to their Champions League form to the hands of Benfica last month.

The Reds are set to finish with their highest ever Premiership points total this season and if it weren’t for the good form of Chelsea and Manchester Utd could well have won their first Premiership trophy.

Three points at home to Bolton this weekend could close the gap between Liverpool, in third, and second placed Manchester United with just a handful of games to go.

Benitez, looking back at the achievements of the season, said, “We will keep going until the end of the season to try and catch Manchester United for second place and we won’t be giving it up.

“If we can beat Bolton we will be on 70 points and if you analyse our season we have made big progress. We won the Super Cup and almost won the Toyota Cup where we had three goals disallowed which I still find unbelievable.”

And that’s without mentioning the FA Cup, which the Reds play Chelsea in the semi-final of on Saturday 22nd April.
