Gonzales relishing Anfield move

Imminent Liverpool signing Mark Gonzales has revealed that he is very excited about his summer move to Anfield as he waits for the go-ahead regarding is status to play in England from the Home Office.

Chilean international Gonzales was rejected a work permit to join the Reds in January due to Chile’s low FIFA World Ranking. Since then he has been playing in Spain for Real Sociedad, but hopes to get a Spanish passport this summer so he can fulfil his dream move to the Premiership, and to the European Champions.

He said, “I am very thankful to Real Sociedad and their coach Jose Mari Bakero, but while they’d like me to stay I’m going to England to join Liverpool.

“I’m waiting until June 30 when I’ll receive my papers authorising me to play and work in England. Obviously, the next step in my career is then to play for Liverpool.

“I have been in touch with Rafa Benitez and Paco Herrera. They have been always up to date with my personal and professional situation.”
