Reds still in talks with Marseille

Djibril Cisse could be back in action as early as the end of September, and has again re-iterated his desire to move to Marseille, although the Liverpool Echo report Lyon are also now interested.

The 24 year old forward, who recently broke his leg in a pre-World Cup friendly with China, said “I am waiting for the club’s decision, Marseille and Liverpool are still negotiating my transfer.

“I want to play for Marseille. They are the club in my heart that I supported as a child.”

Speaking of his injury, and expected return date, he said “The doctors told me I’ll be back in October. So I would say I’ll play towards the back end of September.”

  • The Liverpool players return to pre-season training next week, and new signings Craig Bellamy and Gabriel Palletta will be there to be put through their paces. They should also be joined by Mark Gonzales, who is expected to get his work permit approval next Thursday. And the first Brazilian to tread the turf at Melwood should be Valencia full back Fabio Aurelio who will sign on a Bosman free transfer this weekend.
