Semi final dates confirmed

Liverpool’s third Champions League semi final against Chelsea in four years will take place on April 22nd and 30th.

Unlike the previous two semi finals, in 2005 and 2007, the first leg will be at Anfield on the Tuesday 22nd April, with the return leg at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 30th April. Giving Chelsea the slight advantage.

Chelsea reached the semi finals courtesy of a 2-0 win over Fenerbahce on Tuesday night, winning 3-2 on aggregate. However, Mikel Essien picked up a yellow card for dissent and will therefore miss the first leg at Anfield.

And more worryingly for Avram Grant, Carlo Cudicini limped off with a hamstring injury meaning he is almost certainly out of the first leg, although number one Petr Cech could return from his face injury in time.
