Rafa delighted with new deal

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has expressed his sheer delight at signing a new contract with the club that will see him stay on as manager until at least 2014, completing ten years at Anfield.

Benitez signed a four year extension to his current contract yesterday after months of negotiating. After leading the Reds to success in the European Cup and FA Cup since his arrival in 2004, Benitez is looking to bring even more glory back to Merseyside.

“I’m really, really pleased,” the Spaniard told the club’s official web site. “We’ve been talking about things for a long time, so it’s good that it’s been finalised and we can finish with the talks. Now we can start working with everything sorted.

“Clearly we have to improve everything still if we want to be contenders every year. The target is to improve the squad and work in different ways to make sure we stay together. The target is to improve every year, and I think now it will become easier to win trophies.”
